Filters:  Once again, the smaller screen of a mobile device needs to be addressed.  Users don’t want to page through results for ages.  In order to help users quickly and easily find just what they are looking for, you need to provide them with plenty of filter options to sort their search results.  Offer lots of detailed filters so that the experience is simple and easy to navigate.

These specific tools will help you to optimize your mobile site.  Beyond these tools, there are some important techniques that you should keep in mind.  First of all, be sure to check out your competition.  In order to stay ahead of the curve, you need to know what your competitors are doing.  This applies to the products themselves, and it also applies to how you market those products through your website and mobile site.  Look beyond your industry; you’ll find new ideas that you can translate for your own purposes.

You can get an attractive mobile site by using responsive design, but that isn’t always enough.  Consider the benefits of creating a new, custom mobile site.  This way, you can make every detail meet the needs of your mobile users.  Once that mobile site is established, don’t forget to measure your results.  Use Google Analytics to help you figure out which elements of your site are working and which elements leave some room for improvement.
